Oh Yeah
Splendid recording; fiery show. I like hearing Sipe on drums. Nothing wrong with Molo but it would be nice if Phil had more friends who were drummers. There's a guy named Travis he should meet. Had to turn Gimme Shelter up to 11!

Great Sound
Listening to Cryptical - after the initial verse, the band is hammering a riff that could segue perfectly into "Cosmic Charlie". But instead they blow it off into a long, Allmans-esque thing that sounds like "Mountain Jam" to me. Phil and Trey are really laying it down - sounds wonderful! OK, so then they let it fall apart at 15:15 and go into a weird march that doesn't work, so they do a 2006 version of the old Dead blizzard of feedback jam from '72/'73, but Trey's enough of a pro that he can't just copy Garcia from that period. Next is an attempt at something that sounds like it ought to become "Rain" by the Beatles or perhaps "The Wheel". What a creative guitar player he is.

Unique Eyes!
I just wanted to comment on the Eyes here. It's very unique, slower, and Trey's mellow vocals give it a peaceful sound. Also, I have NEVER heard anyone ever sing harmonies on the verses, which Joan does on verses 2 and 3. Has anyone else? I love it!

very fresh and fruity...
Phil tears it up on this night.....he, mostly, leads everybody through the whole show, and rocks it to say the least! I half expected a Trey band show, but I was wrong completely. Very enthusiastic and charged to the max... guess that all techniques come into contact at one point or another.... lathargic at some points but overall, well played....

I have to say I was ALMOST moved to tears on this show! Dang it's SOLID. Trey adds some very nice touches and there's an excitement here that's palpable. Drumming is right on. Some beautiful moments.

You east coasters get all the goodies...
Very solid show through and through. Huge fan of Trey, but I've been largely unimpressed with Trey' s non-Phish endeavors aside from Oysterhead. Thats why I'm glad this show did not turn into Trey A. and Freinds. Really liked Trey's guitar work on Franklin's, parts of Dark Star, and especially Buckets of Rain. Joan Osborne's singing was great throughout. Can see why some cited soupy, muddled jamming, but from what I heard, that was kept at a minimum; the only part that really seemed unenjoyably aimless to me was about 15 min into Cryptical Envelopment. But then, after about 5 or 6 min, the band was back in control and closed the song with a tasty finnish. Besides, this is jamming, its not meant to be 100% perfect. Its important that these guys take risks, and it takes a real pro to get out of a crappy groove. I was also happy, almost relieved to hear Trey singing a well-done Eyes of the World because the 12/02/05 show (the last Trey show I saw) he played with Bill K. and Mickey Hart in San Francisco showcased an abismal rendition. Entertaining show, super solid performance - definitely going to be rockin' this one for a while.

Good Quality Show
Good recording by Mr. Lynch. The watchtower jam is really sick, and the band is really tight. I respectfully disagree with some other reviews. I think Phil sounded pretty awful. As the show went on, Phil's voice got worse, BUT, don't get me wrong, the show is really good. I was very surprised by how good this show was. Definite 5 star for p&f

Wow - Check this Other One out
This is stunning and it's everything I thought it would be. This was a great run and while Trey is great he does not make the show this current lineup brings out the best in everyone that plays with them and I Thought 2/18 had some unreal riffs with Larry and Barry. I agree with my main man BZL that there is some syrupy, meandering jams which seem to come at the expense of playing tight and these 2 are not mutually exclusive. It's hard to say if I was bopping around on the floor what I would think but guess the Hammerstein's general admission would have been the preferred venue for this.

Great show
Nice recording job by John Lynch. Hard to complain about a show that jumps right out the gate with Help->Slip->Franklins. Phil is phat in the mix, Joan sounds great, and the guitar work from Trey and Larry is blazing. A fun show to hear. I'm looking forward to downloading some of the other shows from this wonderful tour.
For the most part the sound problems are characteristic of the buildings not the people. We've been fortunate that we either get soundboards or recordings from acoustically sound buildings. I've come to accept these minor imperfections that I used to think of as major. With the recent upheavel within the Dead family, I'm happy to have anything that comes my way. I do understand the feelings of Bobby, Mickey and Bill and their considerations for the future, (both theirs and Grateful Dead inc.) As always I'm also greatful to Phil for thinking not only of business but us, the Heads. We created each other but I can find no fault in the decisions made by either camp, I respect them! How many other bands have given so freely of themselves, yet there are those who would call for a boycott of the Dead. How greedy are you? It seems that everybody wants a free ride and your expectations are unrealistic and ridiculous. How much has anyone had to pay for Stones tickets and when is the last time you recorded any free shows from Aerosmith?!?! Grow up and appreciate what we have been given. Personally, I am GRATEFUL to get to experience shows I'm unable to attend. I remain forever grateful to this website and the people who lovingly create these great pictures of time for ALL of us!!

Really good show
Great recording! Trey gets in some nice solos and it's a very worthwhile download. Too much mindless, directionless noodling in 1st half of 2nd set to get that 5th star, in my book. But, some really great stuff, nonetheless. Quite a weekend at the Beacon!

Performance Overcomes Sound
Instruments good, separation good, crowd noise acceptable, but vocals are echo-y and distant. That's my complaint. Vocals are distant, muffled. Otherwise a hot show, great jamming, must stream if not also download.

Phil Lesh + Friends 2-12-06
A quick review based on an incomplete listen: Both the John Lynch (Microtech Geffells) and Steve T (Nak 300) sources for this show sound very good and are comparable in quality. Vocals are just a touch distant in places on both. The Nak 300 source sounds a little boomier to me. The Nak 300 source also has a pretty jarring (to these ears) cut/crossfade in Dark Star and some other minor issues (e.g., there is a dropout at 4:17 on d2t05), so I currently prefer the John Lynch (Microtech Geffells) version. Again, both are very good: Many thanks to the tapers! Performance: Wow! That jam out of Cryptical is something else. Is there a bit of "Baby, You're a Rich Man" in one of the themes?
